Johné Figueroa

Johné Figueroa is a New York City native born and raised in the Bronx, and the founding force behind SHADES. Their professional singing career began in 2013 with a live debut at the Iguana's Cabaret, a moment that set the course for over a decade of performance, study, and artistic growth. Johné holds a BS in Music and has built an impressive choral resume, singing in 17 languages as both soloist and chorister with the BMCC Downtown Chorus, Lehman College Chorus, and the Masterwork Festival Chorus. That classical and choral foundation shows up everywhere in their work, from technical breath control to the cross-cultural fluency that defines SHADES as a band. Their career reached a milestone in April 2025 with a Lincoln Center soloist debut at the Starr Theatre in Alice Tully Hall, one of New York's most storied concert spaces. As SHADES' founder, Johné has been the connective tissue of the band since its first concept sessions in August 2023, building something intentionally multicultural from day one.
